The beach of Marathi is a small sandy beach in the south east of the Akrotiri peninsula in Crete. They are actually two beaches because a pier divides the beach into two. A little bit further down the road there is another small triangular beach. Marathi beach is out of the winds and currents and the sea is protected bay its shallow bay. There are hardly any waves. Therefore it is very suitable for families with small children. Marathi is especially popular with the inhabitants of Chania, because the seafood in the taverns is very good here. Near Marathi is another small sandy beach with a tavern. This beach is called Loutraki and it is located just south of Marathi Beach.
